Then you can sleep soundly in your comfortably well-appointed cabin as the waves gently rock your boat like a cradle.
Now it’s time to get up before dawn and enjoy a steaming mug of coffee as you watch the sunrise over the distant horizon, the water is still and quiet until a light breeze begins to waft against the sails -it’s time to chart your course and begin your day’s adventures! Which brings us to our first stop, so suit up and get ready to dive, dive, dive!
Shark Point (Hin Musang) – One of Thailand’s most abundant coral reefs lies below this otherwise innocuous-looking small rock outcropping, the wonders it holds are all hidden beneath the waves! This incredible undersea treasure has been a protected marine sanctuary since 1992 because of its incredible variety of marine species. The waters beneath Shark Point are teeming with sea life, a rainbow of colourful reef fishes flying through forests of elegant corals!
The dive site surrounds a rock pinnacle, you can find leopard sharks lounging on the sand around it, hence its name. The spire of rock itself is entirely covered with coral, and beautifully fan-finned but poisonous lionfish lurk there waiting to gulp down a passing minnow. Moray eels peer out from their lairs, and clouds of shimmering reef fish hover about like a living kaleidoscope of movement and colour. The soft corals and Gorgonian Sea fans add vibrant shades of orange, red, pink and to the soft blue of the surrounding water. This stunning dive site has earned its spot on any diver’s bucket list!
Anemone Reef – Located a short distance from Shark Point this fully submerged reef is home to expansive fields of sea anemones that cover the shallows of the reef like a submerged garden of carnivorous flowers, their tentacles waving hypnotically to lure in the tiny fish and crustaceans that are their prey. The lively and cheerfully striped orange and white anemone fish that live among them are immune to their toxins, they dart gleefully about, then nestle in the safety of their living home when it’s time to rest. The leopard sharks also frequent the reef along with huge schools of small fish like butterfly fish, fusiliers, triggerfish, trumpet fish, and sweetlips.
Now, back to your yacht for another day of Phuket adventures above and below the sea!
